A caballo entre el ensayo historico y la ficcion novelesca, Manuel Vazquez Montalban ha llevado a cabo un estudio exhaustivo y excelentemente documentado, pero tambien emotivo y apasionante, sobre uno de los personajes mas turbios de nuestro pasado historico.

Manuel Vazquez Montalban nacio en Barcelona en 1939. Novelista, poeta y ensayista, sus escritos se caracterizan por la ironia y por una vision critica y demoledora de la realidad social. Fallecio en Bangkok en octubre de 2003.

intriguing concept

This is a very interesting novel that pretends to be an autobiographical depiction of the Spanish dictator. It isn't, of course. However, it makes for interesting reading for anyone who would like to learn more about the history of the Spanish Civil War and the leader of the victorious forces. It is not a flattering depiction of General Franco, but I like it.
