It has theory and method of secondary dominants and diminished, and parallel secondaries for each mode and has the corresponding diatonic variants. It describes and elucidates the properties of definitive modes such as Ionian and Phrygian and has over 100 notational examples and 7 short piano pieces demonstrating the secondary functions of: Ionian relative, Phrygian relative, Locrian Prodominate, and Lydian prodominate as well as pieces with modulations involving the parallels of Dorian relative, and Aoelian prodominate and the relative parallel of Mixolydian prodominate. I intend to buy every book in this series

I enjoyed this book immensely as well (I already own the first book in this series and was extremely pleased with it) --was glad to see the author included a few songs in this one. I find it incredibly interesting and expect others already somewhat well- versed in music theory and interested in expanding their awareness of different levels of music theory and how music theory can be applied would find it interesting too. These books go further than many theory books and also provide a basis for understanding music theory as it has been accepted or understood during various periods of history, the author refers to these things during his explanations of various sequences or while making suggestions for variations. He refers to dominant or preferential schools of thought through the history of recorded music. As I said with the first one, the author provides a lot of basis for thought and things to reflect upon in these books and a further basis for study/illumination and experimentation. (both for practice and composition). The results are a very concentrated blend of information that while highly specific covers a lot of ground. The author goes into more detail in this book and I immensely look forward to the rest of them. I think what we are seeing here is a very skilled and well-practiced musician who has spent a great deal of time experimenting with music theory himself, offering the rest of us some of his findings and a different way of looking at certain aspects of theory. I give it five stars.

Another great book, this one with illustrations and visual demos, five stars

Again great book, lot of info, more detail in these additional ones-- includes some brief demos (short examples/tunes) in this one. Looking forward to the rest of them. Great discussions on sound and theory, interesting clear concise format and lot of variations and expansions. This one has plenty of visual illustrations of the concepts. Great for musicians.
