Reading for the third time!

Frank Peretti 's books are all good, but my favorites are 'This Present Darkness' and 'Piercing the Darkness.' This book is well written, and a real page-turner. It gives shape and form to the spiritual warfare that we face daily. Gives you a glimpse behind the physical world to reveal who the real enemy is. I highly recommend it for those interested in spiritual issues And to those looking for a really good mystery and interesting story.

I read this book when it was first published. I have never forgotten how good it was and what a page turner it was. I am rebuilding my library of books and am thrilled to find hardback copies available.

About the Author
Gary Bertoline is the Associate Vice President for Visualization Computing. He formerly was Department Head and a Professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology. He is the co-founder of the Digital Enterprise Center in the School of Technology, and, in the 6 years he served as Department Head, he more than doubled enrollment, funded projects, and donations to the department. Prior to becoming department head he was on the faculty in Computer Graphics Technology for 4 years. Prior to joining the faculty at Purdue, Gary served three years as a faculty member in the College of Engineering and Department of Engineering Graphics at The Ohio State University.

good book.

I got this book for my CAD class(we modeled the problems with solidworks). I actually needed to get the newer version of this (one with the green cover) but i got this and pretty much all the problems were the same. Some were numbered differently and the pages were off a little. For example, the problems on lets say, page 90 of the green one , start in page 87 in this one. I just compared with my friend who had the new one and found the problem on mine.
The book itself is good, they have alot of problems to practice with, though no solutions are given for these. But the chapters explain stuff quite well with alot of pictures and examples showing the definitions. Its a thin book and easy to carry around as well.

A worthy addition to your home bar

I find it extraordinarily amusing to read all the reviews that slag Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible 2016 based on the choice of Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye as his 2016 Whisky of the Year.

First off, as with all reviews it his opinion. Second off, you have a right to disagree - but please disagree only if you have actually tried the Northern Harvest Rye. Like most, I was quite surprised that Murray chose his whiskey. However, after trying it I found it to be very nice and quite drinkable. (This coming from a guy that normally detests Rye.)

Now I am obviously not nearly as educated as most of the people who offered their expert opinion. But I dare say that I have found more use of the previous versions of Jim Murray's guides then those experts. His reviews have helped me learn what to look for in a whiskey, how to interpret the tastes of different varieties and assisted me in making educated purchasing choices with my limited disposable income. If this is what you need then this guide is clearly worthy of a 5 star rating.

Book is Good - but not Great

After a thorough (and enjoyable) reading of this book, it seems to me that Murray tends to rate almost everything on a higher scale than most reviewers do. So, what many reviewers might give an 89, he'd give a 93. With that "skewed" rating system in mind, I was able to fairly enjoy his ratings and reviews. However, for those older folks whose eyesight may not be as great as it once was - be warned...the text in this book is VERY VERY SMALL! After about 15 minutes of reading, I had to put the book down and rest my eyes for a while.

His pick of Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye as the "World Whiskey of the Year, 2016" inspired me to seek out that whiskey and try it. Being that I have never tried a Canadian whiskey, and that I do not care for rye, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the Crown Royal pick. So much so that I have gone back and purchased a few extra bottles. I completely agree with his tasting notes on this one.

I guess the real question is, "Would I but this again next year when the 2017 edition comes out"? The answer is "no". Just way too much info on whiskeys I have no interest in. Since I drink American (USA) Bourbons and Whiskeys almost exclusively, I will stick with books that address those, and those only.

If you're just interested in American (USA) whiskeys, you would do much better to purchase Clay Risen's "American Whiskey, Bourbon & Rye: A Guide to the Nation's Favorite Spirit, 2015 Edition" as American whiskeys are only a very small part of Murray's book.

The Nobel prize-winning Italian dramatist Fo and his frequent collaborator, Franca Rame, have been eliciting laughter and thought for almost half a century both as writers and as actors. They are modern commedia dell'arte entertainers with a social, political, and historical conscience. Jenkins's joint study is a much-needed critical review of their work. As Fo's official American translator, Jenkins has worked closely with the texts and the artists for several years. In this book, he communicates his deep commitment to and appreciation of their work, covering their biographies, artistic development, and philosophy and surveying many major works. With its extensive text samples, performance photographs, and reproductions of Fo's paintings, this book is both comprehensive and thoughtful. An anthology of plays, We Won't Pay! is the first volume in the collected works by this translator. The four plays collected here date from 1959 to 1986. In addition to the title play, the book includes "About Face," "Elizabeth: Almost by Chance a Woman," and "Archangels Don't Play Pinball." As translations, they are funny and agile and will be more accessible to Americans than earlier Fo translations, which were geared toward British audiences. Of course, since Fo is such an improviser, his actual performances may differ widely from one occasion to another and from what is presented here. Many were surprised when Fo, a mere writer and clownish performer of rather buffoonish comedies, won the Nobel Prize in 1997. He was just an entertainer! Many who have seen his anarchistic farces descry serious intent just below their mad comic surfaces. We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay! is a Feydeau-like farce triggered by a food riot. About Face is a variation on a plot device--identical strangers switch identities--hoary when Plautus used it and a vicious satire on Italy's class structure: the president of Fiat, stricken with amnesia and taken for an assembly-line worker, suffers the daily humiliations of the working class. The madness in Fo in itself carries a political message; many plays revel in the life-giving anarchism that results when the stultifying status quo breaks down. Fo's debt to Marxism is nearly as great as Brecht's, but what makes Fo delightful to read is his debt to those other Marxists--Groucho, Chico, and Harpo. Besides the plays, the volume contains short essays about Fo's life and work by translator Jenkins. Jack Helbig

A most deserved Nobel Prize

Dario Fo is a great artist and a great man. With his wife Franca he has written some of the best pages of Italian culture. I had the fortune of watching them act (live and on TV) in most of their plays. With the barest stage they can convey the richest combination of form and substance. They represent the core of the profound culture and sensitivity of the Italian working class, which so important has been in the social development of that country, and still is little known abroad (shaded by the stereotypical and outdated images of mandolins, meatballs, and mafiamen). I deeply encourage anyone to read as much as possible of what Dario has written.
I found on this website a review claiming that "Fo supports the WTC attackers". The author of that review should have gone a little deeper in reading the facts, just to discover that the intended message of the reported statement was quite opposite to the alleged one. The original text that includes the statement can be found at ...(in Italian). I believe the misunderstanding is far from casual. Nowadays the Italian Prime Minister controls almost every information medium. He has restored most of the political and cultural conditions that Italy was forced to "enjoy" between 1922 and 1943. It has become very hard for dissenting voices to reach a wide audience without having their messages distorted on the way. The "Corriere della Sera" excerpt from Dario and Franca's email on the 9/11 tragedy is just one more example of how easy it is to manipulate the truth by simply reporting minimal parts of it.

Theatre in Action

For decades Dario Fo and his wife, Franca Rame, have created some of the most interesting political theatre of the 20th century. Fo's work deals with social injustice, political freedom and economic policies. He often expresses pro-communist views. Common themes in Fo's work include critiques of fascism and terrorism. Much of his work is targeted at the working class
Fo is known for his use of the Italian tradition of commedia dell'arte. This tradition allows Fo to exploit taboo subjects in highly comic situations. Like the commedia dell'arte tradition, Fo's humor is bawdy and over the top. It is tremendously absurd and equally as witty.
Dario Fo won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
We Can't Pay! We Won't Pay!, Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Ordinary Couple are my favorite works by Dario Fo.

Bell, in his ingnorance has overlooked the fact the Fo's statement is quite true, and if further researched his review would have also stated the fact that Mr. Fo had been one of Italy's greatest political satirists and has provided Europe with great satirical works in the latter part of the last century and continues to do so.

This is an amazingly thorough (and essential) resource for anyone touched by Cancer - Kudos to author Charlotte Libov!

I am so thrilled that Charlotte Libov has written this much-needed clear, concise "how to" manual for cancer survivors and their families. As a Mental Health professional, I know that the first reactions people have when they hear the word 'cancer' are panic and fear. In addition to the obvious life and death concerns, two of the big reasons for this are that the amount of information out there can be very overwhelming...and the available information is often contradictory and confusing. Libov's "Cancer Survival Guide" is an antidote to this confusion, presenting each topic area in a very well-organized and user-friendly fashion, and artfully straddling the line between being simple enough for the average person to easily digest while also providing enough depth of information to be truly useful. Libov manages to do all of the above, and in a no-nonsense, practical and hopeful way. Both professionally and personally, I see this as a crucial piece of the puzzle that has long been missing for many, and is now available. For this, I say "Thank You" Charlotte Libov!

CANCER SURVIVAL GUIDE is a must read for anyone with an interest in the fight against cancer

I've had the good fortune to work with writer Charlotte Libov for years now and was very pleased at the opportunity to play a role, however small, in making CANCER SURVIVAL GUIDE a reality given the participation of several experts that I represent as the media relations representative for Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. For the past 20 years, I've worked at Mercy, trying to bring important information about medical breakthroughs in diagnosis and treatment of all manner of illness; a wonderful, easy to ready, easy to use guide like Ms. Libov's is now another tool we have to help educate people about how they, when it comes to cancer, can "conquer it and live a good life," as the cover notes! The book is comprehensive, examining 13 of the most common cancers, with everything from details about the latest breakthroughs to information about new genetic tests and how to "find the best treatments and doctors." As a breast cancer survivor, I found this book informative, user friendly, and thorough. Everything is broken down into specific categories with countless helpful ideas for those suffering and for those whose loved ones are suffering. Part of the title, "How to Conquer it (cancer) and Live a Good Life" is spot on. In short, the old adage, "knowledge is power," says it all. Clearly, the author (Charlotte Libov) did her homework and imparts her knowledge in a concise, practical text, while encouraging readers to take control of their treatment. This is an important book. Thank you!

Well worth the effort

Very good book for persons who never did a research project before like myself. I learned a lot. It may not be the most exciting book I ever read, but I slowly read it to digest the information and it was well worth the effort. On another note the book arrived earlier than expected.
